1978
The beginning
The “Lambrou” English Language Center, one of the first English language schools in Chalkida, opens its doors to students. It is owned by Rena Lambrou and her sister Mary, both graduates of English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at the time, they were 23 and 19 years old, driven by great ambition, a strong work ethic, and a love for teaching.
The early years
The Lambrou sisters have enjoyed a highly successful career in foreign language education, hundreds of students, both young and old, learn and come to love the English language through their teaching. With an eye to the future, they organize activities that are innovative for the times: excursions to Greece and England, parties conducted in the foreign language, outdoor games played in English, and seminars featuring expert psychologists and learning specialists.
2000
Passing the baton
Mary Lambrou decides to give up teaching, and Rena continues the school’s successful course on her own. Meanwhile, Rena’s daughter, Tonia, has already begun her studies in English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and works at the school during the summer.
2002
Studies abroad
Tonia completed her studies in Athens and left for Manchester, where she pursued a master’s degree in Technical and Commercial Translation at UMIST, one of the leading European universities in the field. Subsequently, under an Erasmus Comenius scholarship, she moved to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, where she worked as an English and Greek teacher at the “Las Torres” public school, an experience that proved pivotal to her career in education.
2011
Return and new studies
Tonia returns to Greece and works with her mother. She takes the national university entrance exams for a second time and is admitted to the Department of Spanish Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she completes her studies.
2015
A new identity
Tonia takes over the family business. The “Lambrou” English language center is renamed “L.two” (Language Two). The curriculum expands to include translation services and Spanish instruction, followed gradually by Russian, Italian, and Greek for non-native speakers; robotics training for young students using English terminology, business courses for professionals and teenagers, and university entrance preparation for studies abroad.
Today
L.two now collaborates with organizations and companies at both domestic and international levels, such as the Vancouver TESOL Training Center, for asynchronous TESOL courses for English teachers, and the “Literature in Athens” festival, for which it has successfully undertaken local organization in Chalkida.
L.two continues its operations in Chalkida while expanding across Greece and abroad through online courses. It collaborates with companies to provide Business language training and with professionals seeking to advance their skills through specialized terminology courses, while also helping many young people gain admission to educational institutions abroad. Driven by a philosophy of experiential and collaborative learning and a passion for multilingualism, educational excellence, and communication, L.two works with adults, professionals, and corporations, yet always keeps children at the heart of its educational philosophy.
